OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To strengthen the surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases, achieve and maintain high immunization coverage for all Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) vaccines, eradicate the transmission of wild poliomyelitis, achieve measles elimination, introduce new vaccines, assist introduction of new vaccines, and respond to VPD outbreaks and other emergencies. These efforts will be conducted in close collaboration with partner organizations in FDMN population.

Description Of Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Sub-Office and overall guidance of Team Leader-IVD, the incumbent shall perform the following duties:

  • Provide technical support to the government and partners in the field of surveillance, immunization, and emergency response in the Rohingya camps (Cox's Bazar and Bhashan Char) and the host community
  • Provide technical support to the government and partners in planning, establishing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing Routine Immunization
  • Provide technical support to the government and partners in planning, monitoring, and evaluating various vaccination campaigns.
  • Provide technical support and assistance in reporting, investigation, sample collection, and response to Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs)
  • Support outbreak investigation and response to VPDs
  • Support rapid response teams responsible for rapid investigation of alerts, field risk assessments, and early response
  • Offer field oversight in implementing communicable diseases and health programs to address the risk of outbreaks and health emergencies, as required
  • Contribute to the identification and inclusion of vulnerable groups to ensure equitable access to quality health services
  • Support the capacity building of local staff working with the District, Upazila Health Complex, and humanitarian response partners
  • Ensure coordination with the government and various partners in achieving immunization and surveillance objectives.
  • Work closely with the other unit of Sub-Office, conduct regular briefing meetings, and actively participate in meetings related to outbreaks, emergencies, and activities, including COVID-19.
  • Provide technical assistance in developing training materials for health staff in camps on Routine Immunization, VPD surveillance, campaigns, etc.
  • Support immunization-related innovations through WHO or partners and document them with supported data and lessons learned.
  • Build the technical capacity of e-SIMOs on Immunization and surveillance. Undertake monitoring and supervision visits in Cox's Bazar (FDMN) Rohingya Camps and in Bhashan Char as and when required.
  • Closely monitor and provide regular supportive supervision to the Surveillance Immunization Medical Officers (SIMOs) in both the Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar, Bhashan Char, and the host community
  • Compile and submit regular information products, including monthly immunization progress reports, situation reports, among others, and contribute to other information products produced by the office, such as bulletins.
  • Undertake any activities as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Education

Essential: Bachelor's degree in medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

Desirable: - Master of Public Health or equivalent post-graduate degree in Public Health / Community and Social Medicine / Child Health- Training in immunization and VPD surveillance

Experience

Essential: At least one year of experience in planning, implementation and monitoring of EPI and vaccine preventable disease control programmes and field operations.

Desirable: -Experience in EPI and vaccine preventable disease control and field operations in diverse situations-Experience working with international organizations or UN Agency will be an added value.

Skills

  • Knowledge in epidemiology, immunization and VPD surveillance

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at BDT 3,634,083 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
